Saeco Xsmall Superautomatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco Xsmall Vapore Super Automatic Espresso MachineI’m a self-professed night owl and you know what ticks me and sets me up for the whole day? Yeah, it is a hot cup of coffee. You make it wrong and my whole day swings out of the window. Over the years, I’ve used several espresso machines and I can say without a doubt which works and which won’t. Today, I would like to share one cool machine with you. Though it’s not built for everyone, it just simply works great for most people.

You can use Saeco Xsmall for brewing all types of coffee, drinks from delightful espresso to mind refreshing Latte Macchiato. It is more or less compatible with both whole coffee beans and ground coffee powder. If you are interested in other options of affordable espresso machines, you can visit this post for best espresso machine under 500 dollars.

Ceramic Grinder

With the ceramic grinder, this product crushes the coffee beans into fine ground coffee without any hassle. Just place all of the beans before filling the water in the reservoir, and it does its magic. Don’t forget to take out the used coffee beans pucks from the waste bin and clean it.

Ceramic grinder crushes the beans uniformly and most of the time you’ll find that your coffee is without any burned out taste. It also prevents overheating of the coffee machine and burning out of its coil.

Programmable functionality

The machine works by programmable shot using volumetric control functionality for placing the desired water volume into the crate. This removes all chances of manual errors.

The Dreg tray and steam wand provided with the machine are a great addition for practical use of preparation material.

Rapid function

We’ve heard various good things about rapid function. It gets all the marks for this feature. You can take a cold cup of milk and turn it into a full cup of brothed milk very quickly in around 30 seconds.

It’s indeed a blessing for office goers like us who would like to have a cup at a moment’s notice before venturing out.

The warm-up time feature which is 30 second only, make this nifty device a great addition to my kitchen shelf.

Before we go gaga about its auto cleansing feature, let me talk about the removable lid present in the machine.

The Espresso comes with a removable brewing top which can be removed for cleaning purpose. You can clean the top and then reinsert it back into the machine.

User ease has been kept in mind at every stage of the construction of this device. That’s why they’ve added an automatic cleaning function for the coffee circuit in the machine.

As such, it often leads to massive power savings and cost savings to end user.

Milk Frother

If you like milk frother, then you’re in for a treat. The coffee machine comes with a milk frother that you can use to taste that mouth watering milk foam.

You can also add the milk frother to other dishes if you like.

Water Tank

The water tank is located on the left-hand side of the machine and holds around 33 ounces of water. I’ll admit that it is really small and can only serve two servings. However, this is a small device for all purpose and intent, and it does exactly that for which it is built.

One cool thing with the water tank is that there is a warning light located just above the container. So when there is no water, it gives out the signal. It goes off when you put water in the tank.

The Panarello feature is necessary for those who’re just starting out and don’t have good steaming techniques. The Panarello is located just above the water tank, and it makes sure that you’ll get foam of milk. When taking out the milk, it might so happen that some of the milk splits out. Take care to remove it down with a piece of cloth.

Programmable power button

I’ve already mentioned about the programmable buttons that enable you to get single shot or double shot of coffee. Having said that, you can also use it for a different purpose. You can use it to grind and brute your coffee beans rapidly. Just to make sure there is also a button provided at the top of the hop that you’ve to push and then turn for grinding your coffee beans.

What We don’t Like

This machine do have a lot of great features, but there are no perfect espresso maker. Since this machine is small sized and in compact design, the Saeco Xsmall come with a small water reservoir and bean tank. That means you have to refill the water more often than other larger size espresso machines.

The Xsmall do not have bypass doser and you are not allowed to use pre-ground coffee with this espresso maker.  Additionally, we don’t suggest you to use oily beans with the built in grinder.

If you are not cool with these drawbacks, you can look for other espresso machines at around $500 that with great features.

  • The machine is very easy to use and also offers a highly cost-effective solution for the brewing of coffee.
  • Very easy to clean and maintain.
  • Crushing the beans using the top button as well as the programmable button is very easy.
  • Compact and portable size.
  • Panarello makes it easy for everybody to produce high-quality milk foam.
  • It produces a very decent cup of coffee.

  • If you use dark beans, oily beans, and Lavazza beans, it sometimes jams the machine.
  • You can’t use pre-crushed beans.
  • Small water tank and bean tank.

Overall, this is a great coffee machine, and I would rate it 4 out of 5. The Espresso comes with all great features and is highly suitable for one individual or a small family. This brewer gets it right on various fronts such as design, compatibility and ease of use.

However, if your coffee intake is more than most of the average people, then you would not find the small capacity of the machine something to be proud about. You’ve to refill it sometimes, and it might not become feasible.

Having said that, you’ll be very hard-pressed to find a coffee espresso machine under this budget and with so many features.
